David Roessler, 94, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, following sudden heart-related complications. Born on February 26, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, David was the beloved son of Reinhold Roessler and Marie Holzberger.
David was a man of deep faith, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his church, family and friends. He was an active member of Open Bible Lutheran Church in The Villages, where he served in the prayer ministry, touching the lives of many through his compassion and commitment to others.
He brought comfort and joy to everyone lucky enough to know him, thanks to his unshakable optimism, steady presence, and infectious smile. David lived with a true zest for life, anchored by quiet strength and an enduring spirit. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and never missed a chance to hit the dance floor. His warmth and fun-loving nature made him easy to love and impossible to forget.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet Kling, his brother Gus Roessler, and his sister Theresa Sholes. Though David and Janet had no children, he was a proud and caring uncle. He is survived by his sister-in-law Charlotte Roessler; nieces Cindy Wendorf (Cliff), Debbie Van Lieshout (Steve), Cathryn Sholes, and Jenmarie Gonsisko (Billy), nephews Peter Roessler and Michael Sholes (Cindy) and many great nieces and nephews.
He will be sorely missed by his many friends, especially Denis Moseng, Sandy Miller, Jacky Moeller and Joanne Weinhardt – his steadfast companions and everyday lifelines. Their presence enriched his later years and embodied the kind of friendship David gave so freely throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held in David’s honor on Saturday, August 9th at 1:00 PM at Open Bible Lutheran Church in Oxford, FL.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 18th at 6:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, where David will be laid to rest.
David made the world a little brighter just by being in it. And if there’s a dance floor in heaven, you can bet David’s already found it.
