George Thornton James, 77 of Bushnell, Florida passed away in The Villages on August 7, 2025. He was born in Homerville, Georgia on November 22, 1947 to Lewis and Macy James.
He was in law enforcement for 35 years. James retired from the Department of Transportation, Motor carrier compliance. He enjoyed watching NASCAR drag racing. He was a member of the Baptist in Faith Church.
He is survived by his son: Chris (Rebecca) James of Bushnell, Florida. Grandchildren: Gary James (Amber Swineheart) of Bushnell, Florida, Cory James (Amanda Cope) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Kristen James-Cruz Dawson. Great Grandchildren: Lillian Pasko, Kayden James, Bo Cruz, Colter Cruz and Riggs Cruz.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda James and a daughter Shelley James.
