An man was arrested for driving with a license that he was told was going to be suspended starting last month.

A deputy saw a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck on U.S. 301 just south of the Florida Turnpike in Wildwood around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed the registered owner, 54-year-old Norman Nazario Alvarez of Ocala, did not have a valid license.

The deputy stopped the vehicle and asked Nazario Alvarez for his license, insurance and registration. He handed over his license which dispatch confirmed was not valid. He had been notified his license was suspended on June 2 due to a financial responsibility, and the suspension went into effect on June 17, the report said.

As such, Nazario Alvarez was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended. The native of Puerto Rico was transported to Sumter County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
