An Apopka woman was arrested for DUI after hitting medians and curbs with nine empty bottles of vodka and unprescribed pills in her vehicle.

Dispatch issued a “be on the lookout” alert for 24-year-old Delilah Anabelle Creighton in a black SUV stopped at Murphy USA gas station, located at 2161 C 48, Bushnell, around 6:10 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A witness advised that he saw the vehicle swerving all over the road on I-75 southbound before getting off on C 48. Creighton drove over multiple medians and was now sitting in the Murphy’s parking lot with her head down and foot on the brake. She then sped off into the McDonald’s parking lot, located at 2195 W C 48, almost hitting multiple vehicles, the report said.

The vehicle proceeded to turn right onto C 48 and hit the curb as it pulled out eastbound. It sped before stopping at the red light on W C 48 and Main Street. It struck the curb again as it made a right onto Main Street, the report said.

A few minutes later, a deputy got behind the vehicle and stopped it at the old Murphy USA, located at 304 N Main St. Another deputy responded to the traffic stop and saw the vehicle parked near the southern exit of the vacant gas station. It had grass and debris stuck underneath, which was consistent with the testimony it had struck medians and curbs, the report said.

One of the deputies asked Creighton how she was doing, to which she said she felt fine. She stated she was working for a talent agency in The Villages before being stopped. As they spoke, the deputy noticed her flushed face; bloodshot, watery and glassy eyes; and droopy eyelids, the report said.

He could also smell alcohol on her person, which became overwhelming when she spoke. Her speech was mumbled or thick tongued, so the deputy had to ask her multiple times to repeat herself when questioned. She ultimately admitted to having “two beers,” the report said.

Creighton subsequently agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises. The deputy saw multiple signs of impairment throughout, including swaying, using her arms for balance and not following instructions. Due to this, he concluded she was under the influence, the report said.

An inventory of her vehicle revealed several unopened 50mL bottles of Pink Whitney vodka. Behind the driver’s seat were nine empty bottles of the same vodka. In the center console were five 200mg tablets of Tramadol, which were not in a prescription container. This was a schedule IV narcotic and required a prescription, the report said.

Creighton later refused to answer questions but provided breath samples of 0.257 and 0.251, the report said.

The native of Germany was arrested on charges of DUI and possession of controlled substance without prescription. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,500 bond.
