A Connecticut parolee in a red Tesla was arrested after being stopped for speeding with a suspended license.
A deputy observed 34-year-old Colin Gibbons in a red Tesla traveling northbound on County Road 229 in Wildwood around 7:50 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Radar showed the vehicle was going 54 miles in a 45-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop at the intersection with County Road 462.

When asked for his driver’s license, Gibbons stated he did not have one. He claimed to have a Connecticut ID card instead but did not have it with him. The deputy instead used his name and date of birth for a record check, the report said.
This revealed Gibbons had an active suspension on his license. He also had an active warrant out of Connecticut for a parole violation, the report said.
Gibbons was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while license suspended. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention where he is being held without bond with a hold from Connecticut.
