James Carl Floyd, 89, of Summerfield, FL formerly a longtime Lowell, MA resident, passed away on August 19, 2025 after a brief illness.

Jim was born in Andover, MA on April 19, 1936 to James and Pauline Floyd. Best remembered as a loving father, husband and grandfather. Jim graduated from Andover High School and was a member the of the Local Ironworkers Union in Lowell, MA.

Jim met and married the love of his life, Anne Marie (Martineau) Floyd in 1957. They settled in Lowell, MA where they lived for 44 years and raised 5 children before moving to Florida. Once their family was grown, Jim and Anne soon discovered country & western dancing. They fell in love with dancing and found they had the talent to become instructors. They soon had a large following of students and created the country dance group called The Country Two-Steppers.

They traveled all over New England giving lessons and dance demonstrations. They were invited to dance at a Garth Brooks concert and brought along a dance troupe that included their son, Jay Floyd, who followed his parents into dance teaching. No one was smoother on the floor than Jim and Anne. Their reputation soon spread and they were invited to teach in Florida where they sometimes spent time in the winter. They moved to Florida where they continued making friends and dancing.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne, and his sons, Brian and Jay, and his grandson, Eric Cook. Jim leaves behind his daughters Kelley (James) Cook of Summerfield, FL, Robin Donovan of Dracut, MA, Jamie (Larry) Corcoran of Summerfield, FL and Daughter-in-law, Lynda Floyd of Cape Coral, FL as well as 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
