Edward William Bowers, 87, of Lady Lake, FL, passed peacefully on August 24, 2025. He was born on March 20,1938 in Ilion, NY to Albert and Elizabeth (Cranney) Bowers. He attended Ilion schools and Niagara University. He worked at Mohawk Data Sciences (MDS) in Herkimer and various companies in the Capital District in New York before moving to Lady Lake in 2001.
Ed loved family first, and then golf, the Yankees, music, political intrigue novels, a good laugh and a cold beer in no particular order. He always had a one-liner or song lyric ready for any situation, right up until the end.
He is survived by his wife Sharon (Reese) of Lady Lake and her family; brother Terry of Colorado; brother-in-law Garry O’Connell and his partner Shirley Edgett of Herkimer, NY; daughters Mary Granger and husband Bill of Ticonderoga, NY; Sue Streiff and husband John of Duane, NY; Judy Bowers and husband Dan Keefe of Delmar, NY; grandchildren Erin and her son Oscar, Sarah, Neil and his fiance Lindsay, Mary Jane, Coleman, Miles, and Grace; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Carol (O’Connell) in 2008, sons Steven in 1960 and Dave in 2019, granddaughter Kate in 2024, as well as his siblings Jack Bowers, Mary Morton, and Kathy Altamuro.
His family would especially like to thank Sharon’s daughter-in-law Kelley Reese and Ed and Sharon’s good friend Ronnie Rump for their love and support at this time
