A Fruitland Park man was arrested after openly admitting he had a suspended license when he was stopped at Dunkin Donuts.

A deputy observed 49-year-old Timothy Todd Birmingham driving a red Chevrolet Silverado in Lady Lake around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He did not signal before he turned, leading to a traffic stop in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, located at 1561 Bella Cruz Drive.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy asked Birmingham for his driver’s license. He openly admitted he did not have one and instead handed over an ID card, the report said.

A check of his driving status revealed his license had been revoked on May 10, 2001. His criminal history showed previous convictions for DUI and driving while license suspended/revoked, the report said.

Birmingham was subsequently arrested on charge of driving while license suspended (third or subsequent violation). The Michigan native was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
