A man was found to be in possession of pills after crashing his vehicle near the Village of Fenney.

Jeffrey Paul Licastro Jr., 41, of Coleman, was involved in the crash at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 301 at Warm Springs Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Licastro said he was on his way to Magnolia Plaza when his vehicle swerved and struck a utility pole. He claimed he’d put new tires on the vehicle and they were not properly aligned.

A police officer noticed signs of impairment, including droopy eyelids, and asked Licastro to take part in field sobriety exercises. He struggled through the exercises. Her provided a breath sample that registered .000 blood alcohol content. Licastro was asked to provide a urine sample and agreed to so, but was “unsuccessful” in providing the sample. He later said he had changed his mind and no longer wanted to provide the sample.

He admitted he takes Tramadol Hydrocholoride pills. He was found to be in possession of the pain-relieving pills, which require a prescription. He was taken to the UF Health Emergency Room Clinic at Brownwood for a medical evaluation. Once he was cleared he was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on charge of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was released after posting $3,500 bond.
