Rosemarie Rival

With profound sorrow and abiding hope in the promise of eternal life, the family of Rosemarie Rival announces her peaceful passing.

Rosemarie entered into eternal rest on September 29th, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 25th, 1943 in New Britain, Connecticut, she was the beloved daughter of Andrew and Mary Sargis.
A woman of deep faith and gentle strength, Rosemarie was ordained and received into the Secular Franciscan Order on October 22, 1996, and made her solemn profession on October 11, 1998. Her life was a reflection of the Franciscan spirit—marked by humility, compassion, and joyful service to others. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, where she found spiritual nourishment in the Sacraments, prayer, and community.

Rosemarie was united in holy matrimony to Walter E. Rival Sr. on August 6, 1966, at St. Ann’s Church in New Britain, Connecticut. Together, they shared 58 years of love, faith, and family. She is survived by her children: Walter E. Rival Jr., Christina M. Rival (Robbins), and Debra A. Rival (Perazzella); and her grandchildren: Rachel A. Rival (Mann), James Perazzella Jr., Ryan Perazzella, and Livia Robbins. She is also remembered by her extended family and many dear friends.

Rosemarie now rejoices in the presence of the Lord, reunited with her beloved husband Walter, and all those who have gone before her in faith.

We will remember Rosemarie for her unwavering devotion to God, her gentle wisdom, and the warmth she brought to every room. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the prayers she offered.

A private ceremony with Rite of Committal will be held on October 2nd, 2025 at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Rosemarie’s memory.
