A Wildwood woman was arrested on drug charges after getting busted with heroin and fentanyl in the Lowe’s parking lot.
A deputy observed 45-year-old Lauren Michelle Carcano pulling into the Lowe’s parking lot, located at 13705 U.S. Hwy. 441, Lady Lake, in a grey Nissan sedan around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A check of the tag revealed it was not assigned to a vehicle. Once it was stopped, a K-9 unit sniffed around the outside to check for narcotics. The K-9 positively alerted to the presence of narcotics, and the vehicle was then searched, the report said.
Underneath the driver’s seat was a slim black rectangular case containing heroin, fentanyl multiple pieces of tin foil with burnt residue and small empty baggies. Carcano was later searched, too, and had buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual film. She advised that she forgot this was in her pants pocket and claimed to have a prescription for it, which she could not prove, the report said.
Carcano was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, fentanyl, controlled substance without prescription and drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $8,500 bond.
