Burlington is planning a $2 million renovation at the former Joann store at Village Crossroads in Lady Lake.
The renovation of the 22,257-square-foot retail space is expected to begin in November. Completion is expected in late November.
The local Joann fabric and crafts store was shut down earlier this year as part of a nationwide closing. Burlington stepped in and snapped up 45 leases of shuttered Joann stores, including the location at Village Crossroads in Lady Lake.
Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is an American national off-price department store retailer, and a division of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation with more than 1,000 stores in 40 states and Puerto Rico, with its corporate headquarters located in Burlington Township, New Jersey.
Joann filed for bankruptcy last year. The company enjoyed a brief resurgence during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many Americans focused on at-home do-it-yourself projects.
