Charlotte Pipe and Foundry plans a more than 160,000-square-foot expansion of its Wildwood facility, located east of U.S. 301 and south of County Road 124A.
Special Magistrate Lindsay C.T. Holt recommended approval of a site plan for the expansion at a meeting Tuesday of the Planning and Zoning Board. The City Commission may consider the site plan later this month.

The expansion includes construction of a 54,675-square-foot addition to the existing 80,000-square-foot building plus 80,000 square feet for more pipe storage. Another 28,125-square-foot addition will nearly double the size of the truck staging area.
An existing 209,000-square-foot pipe storage area and the truck staging area will remain open during construction.
Ten jobs will be added to the 52 employees currently working two shifts.
The company was granted a technical waiver of added parking requirements.
Founded in 1901 in Charlotte, N.C., the company is one of the largest manufacturers of cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings. It operates eight plants in seven states.
