Weeds have become a problem at a house in probate in The Villages.
The home at 3273 Hopewell St. in the Village of Belle Aire was the subject of a deed compliance hearing Friday before the Community Development District 3 Board of Supervisors at Savannah Center.

A complaint was received July 17 by Community Standards regarding overgrown grass and weeds at the home.
The homeowner is deceased and there is an open probate case. The law firm representing the estate indicated it had secured funding for property maintenance. However, while the grass was cut the weeds remained as of an inspection on Thursday.
The CDD 3 board ordered that the weeds be removed within seven days or fines will be imposed on the property.
The home was purchased in 2001 by Charles and Eleanor Johnson. He died in 2016. She died this past January at age 91.
