Wildwood commissioners went on a spending spree Monday, approving more than $1.5 million in budgeted purchases.

Most of the money went for new vehicles.

“It being the first meeting of the new fiscal year, we’re spending a lot of money,” said Mayor Ed Wolf.

The most expensive item was $300,000 for water meters from Ferguson Waterworks, followed by $262,467 for four marked Ford Police Interceptors. The police department also will add a Ford Explorer for $42,172.

A Ford F-550 crane truck for the water department is $187,100 while an International MV Fuel Truck is $135,665 for the Fleet Services Department, which also will add a Ford F-150 truck for $45,071.

The water department also will receive a Ford F-150 for $47,493 and a Ford Explorer for $38,358.

A biosolids hauling truck for the wastewater department costs $145,692 and a biosolids trailer will be $79,187. The department also will receive a Ford F-250 truck for $52,555.

Two Ford F-250 utility trucks are $138,854 for the public works department.

To manage this large fleet of vehicles, the city will buy Fleetio Fleet Management Software for $31,500.
