
John Morse Sisson (91) of The Villages, passed away on Oct. 3, 2025. John was born in Tecumseh, MI to Helen (McIntyre) and Sam Sisson.
He attended high school in Tecumseh, college at Michigan State University, and graduate school at Eastern Michigan. He married his high school sweetheart, Dulcie Bowen, in 1956 in Tecumseh, MI. They had just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in September. John worked as a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, and leader in adult education in the Dearborn Heights school system for 39 years, from 1957 to 1996.
He also enjoyed working at golf courses. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Wayne, MI and upon relocating to Florida, joined First Baptist Church in The Villages. Throughout his life, John enjoyed playing multiple sports, woodworking, sailing, camping, traveling, and golfing. He loved ice cream and sauce, playing yard and card games, and listening to folk and gospel bands.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Sam Sisson.
He is survived by his wife, Dulcie, his brother, Tim Sisson, and his sister, Judy Murphy; Children Mark (Nancy) Sisson, Jean Dukic, and Rob (Carol) Sisson; Grandchildren: Amber Sisson (Ryan), Kerry Sisson, Stephen Sisson, Kera Dukic, Kris Dukic, Austin (Katie) Harrington, Kayleigh (Chris) Miller, Hannah Sisson, Garrett Sisson, and Jared Sisson. Great grandchildren Alaina Moriarity, Eloise Droege, Ellie Rae Dukic, Roger Miller, Adelaide Miller.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Both will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. Rev. Greg Bowen, nephew of John, will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Tecumseh, Michigan. Memorials may be given to AAA Pregnancy Center, 16755 Middlebelt Rd., Livonia, MI 48154.
