An unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested after being stopped without a license for the third time.
An officer observed 34-year-old Samuel Jasso-Torres of Lady Lake driving a white van east on Spring Lake Road around 9:55 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The vehicle then rolled through a stop sign to turn onto U.S. Hwy. 27/441, leading to a traffic stop near the intersection with American Lane.

Jasso-Torres handed over his Mexico passport which was used to determine he had never been issued an ID card or a driver’s license. His driving history showed two prior convictions for no driver’s license (never had one) on Dec. 13, 2021, in Marion County and June 11, 2024, in Lake County. The investigation concluded he was aware of his license status, the report said.
The native of Mexico was arrested on charge of no driver’s license (never had one). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
He was also arrested last year in Lake County for driving without a license.
