A Leesburg pair was arrested on drug charges after deputies stopped them with marijuana and methamphetamine at Russell Stover in Wildwood.
A deputy stopped 35-year-old Akeem Lemar Lewis and 61-year-old Kimberly Jean Moran in a gold 2013 Chevrolet Traverse in the parking lot of Russell Stover Chocolates, located at 950 Industrial Dr., Wildwood, at 1 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s registration expired on Oct. 11.

A K-9 unit alerted to the odor of narcotics, leading to a search of the vehicle and its occupants. The center console cup holders had a metal pink cup containing a small plastic baggie of marijuana buds and a glass pipe with burnt methamphetamine residue. There were also two clear plastic straws with traces of methamphetamine on the floorboard where Lewis was sitting, the report said.
Moran was found to have a white Zyn container of methamphetamine and two small plastic baggies with traces of methamphetamine in her pocket. She also had a purse containing a Batman tin of methamphetamine, baggies with traces of it and a Walgreens pill bottle with four Alprazolam pills. The methamphetamine totaled 14 grams, the report said.
Lewis was subsequently arrested on charges of possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams) and drug equipment (possess or use). The New York native was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $2,015.
Moran was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, controlled substance without prescription and drug equipment. She was taken to the detention center to be held without bond. She is currently being held for a Lake County warrant charging her with possession of methamphetamine and drug equipment.
