A Summerfield man was arrested on drug charges after pulling marijuana out of his pocket during a traffic stop at a Mobil gas station.
A deputy observed a white Chevy sedan, occupied by 23-year-old Demarion Rashad Grady, headed west on State Road 44 around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A check of the tag revealed the registered owner had a suspended license, so the deputy stopped the vehicle at Mobil, located at 368 State Road 44, Wildwood. Grady immediately got out of the vehicle but was told to get back inside with the female driver and two small children. He then confirmed the driver’s license was suspended, the report said.
The deputy also noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When asked about it, Grady reached into his pocket and pulled out a paper bag. It contained 7.7 grams of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette that he stated was all his, the report said.
Grady was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams) and drug equipment (possess or use). He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
