Roland Symicek, age 92 of The Villages, Florida passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2025. Born on June 12, 1933 in Independence, WI to Rose (Pierzina) and Joseph Symicek.

He married Jan (Sonsalla) on August 5, 1961. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was a manager in Finance and Accounting for the Milwaukee Road and Soo Line Railroads. Which took him to Milwaukee, WI, Aberdeen, SD, Seattle, WA, and Minneapolis, MN.

He and Jan retired to The Villages in 1996. During his time here, he volunteered with the hospital auxiliary, ushered at The Savannah Center and The Sharon, St. Timothy’s Rosary Maker, and sang with The Village Voices. He was a member of multiple clubs, including the Wisconsin Club, the Polish Club, the German Club, and the OFs Golf Club. He loved taking cruises and traveling the world. Music was a big part of his life, playing in polka bands, swing bands, and community bands. He was a founding member of The Villages Concert Band with his wife, Jan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marcel and Clarence. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jan, son Greg (Paula), daughter Kristin Thayer, grandchildren Aaron (Anne) Seehusen, Adrianna Symicek, and Ian Thayer, and great grandsons Gordon and Owen Seehusen.
