A Fruitland Park man was arrested after ditching a suspicious container while driving near a Walmart in The Villages.
A deputy observed 25-year-old Teryl J’Mari Robinson driving a white Ford passenger eastbound on County Road 466A around 11:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s tag light was not working.

Seeing this, the deputy initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle turned onto Heald Way. It started to slow, and he saw Robinson throw a black container out of the driver’s window. The vehicle ultimately stopped near Walmart at Sarasota Plaza, the report said.
The deputy approached the vehicle, noticing a black container with blue writing laying on top of a bush next to where he saw Robinson throw something. Robinson denied throwing anything but advised that there was a loaded handgun in the center console, the report said.
The container on the bush was found to contain a clear bag with green leafy substance, a hand rolled marijuana cigarette with a burnt end and a package of Zig-Zag rolling papers. A search of the vehicle revealed another black container with several hand rolled burnt marijuana cigarettes in the center console. There was also a white plastic handheld smoking device on the driver’s floorboard, the report said.
Robinson was charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia (possess or use) and destroying evidence. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $6,000 bond.
