U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement put a hold on an unlicensed driver from Mexico who was stopped for speeding.
A deputy observed 41-year-old Antonio Dee Martinez of Haines City speeding in a gray Toyota Camry in Center Hill around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Radar confirmed he was going 88 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone, leading to a stop at the intersection of County Road 469 and 736.

Martinez was unable to provide any form of ID other than his name and date of birth. He claimed to have a license or ID out of Washington State. However, a check of law enforcement databases revealed he had never been issued a license or ID in any state. He had been in the U.S. for a few years and never been given an actual driver’s license, the report said.
The native of Mexico was arrested on charge of operate motor vehicle without valid license. It was later found he had an out-of-county warrant, as well. The native of Mexico was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where he was held without bond and ICE placed a hold on him.
