A Wildwood woman with a suspended license was arrested with her companion when the smell of marijuana led to the discovery of more narcotics.

An officer stopped 31-year-old Destiny Ann Lowe and 22-year-old Guillermo Trejo-Mentado in a black sedan around 4:50 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Mascotte Police Department.

Lowe, the driver, ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Talbott Avenue and Blett Street, leading to the stop at 115 Blett St. She told the officer that she did not have a valid driver’s license, which dispatch confirmed to be true. It had been suspended since Nov. 2, 2015, the report said.

During this conversation, the officer noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Lowe admitted she had been smoking it without a medical marijuana card, after which she was asked to step out of the vehicle to be frisked and detained, the report said.

The officer then shifted his focus to Trejo-Mentado, who handed over a Mexico Consulate card as ID. He stated he had “algo,” or “something,” when asked about illegal substances. He ultimately admitted to having marijuana and “un polvo,” or “a powder,” on his person, the report said.

A search followed, revealing a clear plastic baggie with 4.36 grams of cocaine in his left front pocket. The vehicle was also searched and led to the discovery of a purple glass jar containing a burnt blunt end and marijuana, the report said.

Lowe was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended (second or subsequent offense). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.

Trejo-Mentado was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, marijuana (less than 20 grams) and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to jail and released after posting $4,500 bond.
