An unlicensed driver from Guatemala was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped for speeding near a hotel in The Villages.

A deputy observed 23-year-old Antonio Morales in a white Chevrolet pickup truck pulling a black trailer at 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Radar confirmed he was going 55 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop at the intersection near Hampton Inn & Suites on County Road 466. He did not have a driver’s license for the deputy and instead handed over a Guatemalan ID card. A computer check confirmed he did not have a license or a criminal record, the report said.

He was arrested on charge of operating motor vehicle without a valid license and issued a warning for the moving violation. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond
