An Ocklawaha woman was arrested for allegedly battering her boyfriend when he refused to give her his car keys so she could see another man.

A deputy responded to a domestic battery involving 24-year-old Alexis Page Champagne at an undisclosed residence around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

She told law enforcement that she was in a verbal argument with her boyfriend, the father of her child, over him hiding the keys to his vehicle in his bedroom. She went into the room and “demolished” it looking for the keys. After this, they were standing in the kitchen when he put his hands around her neck and punched her in the face, the report said.

The deputy saw Champagne had redness on her neck and a fresh cut on the bridge of her nose. She continued, saying all she did was yell and scream at him. She also “hit” his phone out of his hand because she did not want him recording her, the report said.

However, the boyfriend stated the argument started because she had been cheating on him and wanted to use his vehicle to go meet with another man. He told her that he no longer wanted her to use his vehicle and was not going to give her the keys. During this altercation, she hit his hand multiple times so he would drop the phone he was recording with. She also grabbed a bottle of rubbing alcohol and threatened to pour it on him, the report said.

At that point, he told Champagne he did not want her to go inside his bedroom and blocked the doorway. She tried to push past him, and when this did not work, she went outside and broke the window to his bedroom. She then came back inside, went into his bedroom and threw things around to find his keys, the report said.

While the boyfriend was standing by his closet door, she pushed him so hard he fell back against the wall. He retaliated by putting his hands on her neck and pushing. They both subsequently left the room, and she pushed him again. He pushed her back on the face to get her away from him, the report said.

Recordings of the incident overheard Champagne wanting to invite another man over to the home. As she walked to the front door, she picked up a wooden duck head from a lamp and threw it at the boyfriend. She then hits his hand twice in an attempt to get him to drop the phone, threatening to spit in his face, as well, the report said.

In the second video, the boyfriend stated, “Hit me again and you are going to jail.” Champagne responded by saying she touched his phone, not him. She proceeded to push him, and he pushed her into the corner of a wall, the report said.

Champagne then went outside as the boyfriend went back into his bedroom where she broke the window. She came back inside where the verbal altercation continued. She also went to her bedroom, grabbed a boot and threatened to hit his face with it if he went any closer, the report said.

The final video captured the boyfriend using Champagne’s phone to speak with her mother. Champagne pulled it out of his hand before taking off both her socks to throw at him, the report said.

Champagne was arrested on charges of battery (domestic) and simple assault (domestic). The Massachusetts native was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.
