A constituent from The Villages paid her tax bill and her check was cashed by the Internal Revenue Service.
Several months later, she received a notice from the IRS indicating that she had not paid her bill.
Despite spending many hours on the phone, she was unable to reach anyone who could help her at the IRS. After contacting my office for assistance, my staff opened an inquiry with the agency who was able to locate and verify her initial payment, dropping further collection efforts.
