An inoperable vehicle is among problems at a neglected home in The Villages.

The home at 2444 Ravenwood Lane in the Cottonwood Villas in the Village of Tamarind Grove was the subject of a deed compliance hearing this week at the District Office at Brownwood.

A complaint was received Sept. 24 by Community Standards about overgrown grass, weeds and an inoperable vehicle in the driveway. Photographs presented as evidence at the hearing showed that the license plate on the vehicle expired in August 2024, meeting the District’s standard defining the vehicle as “inoperable.”

Community Standards has been unable to reach the homeowner, even though letters notifying her of the hearing were sent via certified and regular mail. An emergency contact provided “limited information” and said the homeowner is in an assisted living facility.

The homeowner was granted seven days to address the lawn problems and five days to take care of the inoperable vehicle. A remedy for the inoperable vehicle could include updating the registration sticker. If the home is not brought into compliance within the deadlines, fines will be imposed, including a $50 daily fine for the inoperable vehicle.
