A Villager has escaped prosecution after allegedly biting her husband during an early-morning trip to a Publix grocery store in The Villages.
Deborah Lynn Ring, 66, of the Village of Well Point, will not be prosecuted on a felony charge of battery stemming from her Nov. 30 arrest. The prosecutor’s office announced this past week that no information will be filed in the case.
On the morning of Nov. 30, the Wisconsin native saw that her husband picked up his keys and was preparing to leave. She asked him where he was going, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
“None of your business,” he told her.
That prompted her to get in the car, too.
When they arrived at Publix at Magnolia Plaza, they found it hadn’t yet opened for business. So they went to the UPS Store to see if it was open. During the drive to the UPS Store, the couple began to argue.
Ring attempted to forcibly remove the car’s key fob from her husband’s hand. Her husband suffers from a medical condition and has “paper thin” skin and she grabbed for the keys, it caused his skin to tear. The husband tried to take Ring’s cell phone in order to photograph his injuries. They both got out of the car and continued struggling for control of the cell phone. Ring tripped over the sidewalk causing her and her husband to fall to the pavement. While they were on the ground fighting over the phone, Ring bit her husband’s forearm.
The couple eventually got back in their car and returned to their home at 1884 Steiger St. Police arrived at the home and took Ring into custody.
