The Amenity Authority Committee has agreed to investigate the costs of trimming seed pods of palm trees at postal stations in the northern section of The Villages.
Community Development District 3 supervisors recently discussed the messy problem occurring at postal stations, including the Belle Aire Postal Station.
“You can’t avoid those pods. The mess is overwhelming. If you get them on your shoe, you’re going to get them in your house. It’s like stomping on grapes,” CDD 3 Supervisor Gail Lazenby said.

The AAC owns the postal station and has the responsibility for maintenance. As a rule, palm trees are not trimmed in The Villages, but because the seed pods have proven to be so messy, the AAC has agreed to look into the cost of trimming the seed pods from palm trees twice a year. This would only be done at postal stations where palm trees are located in walking areas.
The problem has gotten so bad in CDD 3, that CDD 3 supervisors said they might be willing to pick up the cost if the AAC chooses not to fund the trimming of the seed pods.
