The Villages Democratic Club will be holding demonstrations on the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s second inauguration.
The demonstrations will be held under the rallying cry, “What more will it take?”
“The ICE murder of Renee Nicole Good – caught on camera, mind you – shows that Trump’s madness and cruelty are getting worse by the day. If you think you’re safe, think again. Trump just labeled this blond, white, American mother of three as a ‘domestic terrorist’ out to kill the ICE agent with her car. Seriously? Where’s Trump’s compassion for human life?” asked Steve Brothers of the Village of Richmond.
The rallies will allow those people who object to Trump’s policies and actions to stand up and be heard. One rally site will be in the older, northern side of The Villages while the other will be on the newer, southern side, according to event organizers.
The rallies will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 at:
• Morse Boulevard between the Old Mill Run and Stillwater Trail roundabouts at Lake Sumter Landing.
• The intersection of Warm Springs Avenue and Marsh Bend Trail near Everglades Recreation Center.
Doug Blanding of the Village of Tierra del Sol said things in this country seem to be going from bad to worse.
“Trump has ramped up his lawlessness to the point where everything he does causes what he did the day before to pale by comparison. Congress is either unwilling or unable to reign in Trump’s worst impulses, so this leaves the American people with very few options. The days of being able to plan a rally a month or more in advance are gone. We must ramp up the rate and scale of our protests, even if it means weekly or daily protests,” Blanding said.
