A Wildwood woman was arrested for battery after allegedly slapping her boyfriend until he “saw stars” for breaking a porch pillar.
A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy was driving south on Powell Road when she heard yelling and saw 38-year-old Pamela Michelle Newsom running to the street from her home around 7:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. She then screamed, “Get this man out of here.”

The deputy proceeded to drive over to Newsom’s residence and separate her from her boyfriend of five months. Newsom advised that her juvenile nephew was playing around with her boyfriend but hit him in his groin area. The boyfriend stood up from his seat on the porch and punched the archway pillar, the report said.
Newsom responded by punching him in the back of his head and face. She stated this happened right before she waved down the deputy, the report said.
However, when telling this story, she seemed to be under the influence of intoxicants. She was detained in handcuffs due to her extremely erratic behavior. An officer with the Wildwood Police Department subsequently responded to the scene to talk to her, but due to her unwillingness to cooperate, she was not asked any questions, the report said.
The officer was still able to see that the left archway pillar of the porch was broken, as the top part of it was detached from the ceiling and leaning east. He also saw the boyfriend seated in the driveway. The left side of his face near his left eye was red and swollen, and he had a red splotch toward the left of his iris, the report said.
The boyfriend corroborated that Newsom’s nephew hit him in his groin area, which angered him and prompted him to tell the juvenile to “stop doing that.” He then went outside and punched the archway pillar of the front porch. Newsom became angry with him for doing this, so she started slapping him with an open hand on the left side of his face and head. He indicated that he “saw stars” while she slapped him, the report said.
Newsom was arrested on charge of battery (doemstic) and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
The North Carolina native was also arrested in Sept. 2025 when she was stopped with a license suspended for “fines” at Sumter Tire & Auto.
