An unlicensed driver from Guatemala was arrested after a traffic stop near a busy gate in The Villages.
A deputy pulled over 22-year-old Elfido Nery Garcia-Ramirez near the Morse Gate at County Road 466 and Morse Boulevard around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. His grey Mitsubishi sedan had no visible plate lights.

When asked for his driver’s license, Garcia-Ramirez stated he did not have one. He instead gave his name and date of birth, which was used to confirm he had never been issued a license, the report said.
The native of Guatemala was arrested on charge of operate motor vehicle without valid license. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond.
