A Villager suspected of driving under the influence refused a breath test after a golf cart crash.
Patricia Eileen Hess, 67, of the Village of Antrim Dells, was driving a silver Yamaha golf cart at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 301 when she crashed into the back of another vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. U.S. 301 is a four-lane road and golf carts are not permitted on it. Hess attempted to drive away from the crash scene, but police stopped her from leaving.

Hess was confused and it appeared she had been drinking. The report noted she had “defecated in her pants.”
She refused to take part in field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample. She was taken to the UF Health Emergency Room Clinic at Brownwood for a medical evaluation. Once she was cleared, she was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where she was booked on a charge of driving under the influence. Bond was set at $1,250.
