A Summerfield woman was arrested on drug charges after law enforcement found narcotics in her purse and underwear.
A deputy stopped 34-year-old Kristine Lee Gonzalez as the passenger of a blue 2007 Toyota near Quality Suites in Wildwood around 6:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The tag had been checked and determined to be assigned to another vehicle.
The deputy first spoke to the male driver who advised that Gonzalez owned the vehicle, but it was not registered. The tag actually belonged to his car, which was not running at the time, the report said.
Gonzalez then agreed to hand over her ID. She reached into her purse and picked up a clear zippered bag with multiple things inside before quickly putting it back. But the deputy had already seen a clear plastic baggie with a white crystalline substance inside the bag. He asked about it, and she claimed it was just pocket lint, the report said.
Both occupants were subsequently removed from the vehicle to wait for another deputy to come test the baggie. Law enforcement proceeded to search the vehicle and found a suspected marijuana cigarette, a black grinder with a green leafy substance inside and three vape cartridges containing a thick dark yellow liquid, the report said.
The white substance in the baggie was determined to be 0.1 grams of methamphetamine. The rest of paraphernalia contained 0.7 grams of marijuana, although the vape cartridges were not tested at the time of the report, the report said.
Gonzalez later admitted to having a “bubble” in her underwear, which is a common name for a glass bubble pipe used to smoke methamphetamines. She also had a plastic tube with three marijuana roaches in the same area. With that discovery, the total weight of methamphetamine went up to 0.3 grams, and the weight of the marijuana totalled 2.1 grams, the report said.
She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana (less than 20 grams) and drug equipment. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $3,500.
