When told of the reason for the stop, Rivera Ramirez claimed he was wearing his seatbelt. He then handed over a Guatemalan ID card and said he was sorry for not having a driver’s license.

He was arrested on charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and given a verbal warning for the seatbelt violation. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond.
