Lady Lake Commissioner John Gourlie has passed away.
The Town of Lady Lake announced his death on Monday morning. His passing was quite sudden. He was 74.

He was first elected to the Town Commission in 2022 and was re-elected in November 2024. During his tenure, he served as the liaison to the Police Pension Board and the Lady Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
Commissioner Gourlie was a native of Illinois. He lived in Florida as a child, later moved to Canada with his parents as a young teenager, and held dual citizenship.
Throughout his life, Commissioner Gourlie worked in sales, as a welder, a quality control manager, and a plant manager. He also owned a mortgage company, bought and sold real estate, and held an auctioneer’s license. Most recently, he was employed at RoMac in the truss plant.
Commissioner Gourlie was well known among friends and neighbors for his musical abilities, including singing karaoke and playing guitar.
