A Leesburg man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after running a red light on the way to SunStop.

An officer saw a blue Toyota Camry make a left turn at a red light before pulling into SunStop, located at 9741 Peppertree Lane, around 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He subsequently conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, 39-year-old Daniel Montez, at a fuel pump.

Montez acted nervous during this conversation, saying he did not have his license with him and handing over his social security card instead. He then admitted he knew his license was not valid because he had been given a citation the day before for driving with a suspended license. Indeed, a check of his driving history confirmed it was suspended on Jan. 20 for an unpaid traffic fine, the report said.

He was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $150.
