An Ocala man was arrested after admitting he drove knowing his license had been suspended for insurance reasons.

A deputy spotted a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling west on East State Road 44 in Wildwood around 12:50 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the license plate revealed the registered owner, 54-year-old Michael Allen Jones, had multiple active suspensions on his driver’s license.

Due to this, the deputy stopped him near the intersection with County Road 219. Jones admitted he knew his license was suspended for insurance reasons. He had also been convicted of driving with a suspended license on April 28, 2025, in Sumter County, the report said.

Jones was subsequently arrested on charge of driving while license suspended or revoked (second or subsequent offense). He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
