Victoria Ann Deshaw was born May 7, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan. The oldest of 5 siblings was an honor she held well and she loved her sibling meet-ups every year in Florida.
Vicki is survived by her husband Ken Kelly of The Villages and her six children Tony (Sue) Deshaw, Deanna Deshaw, Deborah (Jim) Cikalo, Theodore Deshaw, Darrell Deshaw and Dana (Peter) Tucich as well as her precious grandchildren Jenna O’Brien, Noah Tucich, Luke Tucich, and Solise Deshaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Margaret Shaieb, and her beloved husband of 54 years, Devere (Tony) Deshaw.
Vicki will best be remembered as a faithful Catholic, selfless volunteer, and nurse to everyone. In 1960 she received her nursing license and despite being a busy mother continued her studies earning her RN. At age 63, she reached another significant milestone receiving her BAS in Nursing. As if 50 years as a nurse (many in the ER) weren’t enough, nothing held greater meaning than her numerous years of charitable work. She shined as a faithful servant with many organizations which included several closest to her heart: The Christ Child Society, Detroit Symphony League, The Villages Nurses Club, St. Mark’s Women’s Guild and choir, Emmaus sister, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and volunteer nurse at The Lazarus Free Medical Clinic in Wildwood, FL.
Vicki “retired” to The Villages with her husband and son, Ted, in 2003. She enjoyed all that this Village had to offer but especially the close friendships she made at Michigan club, “widows” club, Nurse’s club, Bridge club, book club, golfing with friends, and game night with neighbors playing Mexican Train, Mahjong and Five Crowns.
Although her passing was sudden, her life was anything but. She captured every moment with purpose and until her very last breath fought the good fight, continued the race, and kept the faith.
Her children were humbled by the outpouring of support from her St. Mark church family and priests whom she loved, as well as those who traveled to honor their mother. Thank you to her siblings Connie (Sam), Tony (Mary Ann), Kathy (George) and Nick (Jean) for being by our side. A special thank you to Grace (you are an Angel). Our mother was truly blessed and will be fiercely missed by her children and grandchildren.
