A Wildwood woman was arrested for resisting arrest after allegedly kicking police officers as they tried to evaluate her for a Baker Act.

Officers responded to a residence on Jackson Street regarding a suicide attempt around 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Upon arrival, they found 20-year-old Nolancia Jeresea Johnson acting highly aggitated and aggressive, shouting profanities and derogatory remarks at law enforcement.

Her mother advised that she had been drinking alcohol and expressed a desire to commit suicide to “be with her deceased brother.” She then wrapped a wire around her own neck in an attempt to strangle herself, the report said.

Due to this, an officer began an involuntary mental health examination, or a Baker Act. Other officers tried to help prep Johnson for transport, but she remained hostile. She told them, “…I will make you crackers run after me and do your job,” and tried to flee multiple times, the report said.

As they escorted her to a patrol vehicle, her resistance escalated to physical force. She began violently pulling away and kicking at officers, intentionally hitting one of them multiple times on the lower right leg, stomach and chest. Another officer tried to secure her legs to prevent more attacks, to which she unsuccessfully tried to bite his left upper arm, the report said.

Johnson was ultimately taken to the ground until her aggression subsided. Once she calmed down, she was put in the back of a patrol vehicle where she continued to threaten the officers. She also forcefully kicked the door and windows to the point they put flex cuffs on her ankles, the report said.

She was charged with two counts of battery on officer and two counts of resisting without violence. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
