A Village of St. Catherine couple is feeling the heat over a non-matching white metal roof at their home.
The home of Robert and Terri Falkenstern at 456 Gilson Loop was the subject of a public hearing Monday afternoon at the District Office at Brownwood.
A complaint was received Nov. 6 by Community Standards regarding a white roof at the home, which the couple purchased in 2021. Community Standards pulled the original application the couple had submitted to the Architectural Review Committee which described the A-frame sunroom addition they were planning to put on their home. The application clearly stated the roof on the structure would have architectural shingles. The shingles were supposed to match the shingles on the home.
Photographs submitted as evidence at the hearing, showed that the couple put on a white metal roof and not shingles. The home remains out of compliance as of an inspection this past week.
The Falkensterns indicated to Community Standards that they have hired an attorney and, at least for the moment, have not given any indication that they are going to put down shingles and remove the white metal roof.
The special master presiding at the hearing gave the Falkensterns 30 days put on the shingle roof described in their ARC application. If they fail to do so, they will face an immediate $150 fine to be followed by $50 daily fines until the home is brought into compliance.
