A dead Villager’s home has been deteriorating as the bank takes over the property.

The home owned by the estate of Ruth Ann Jackson at 1016 Parker Place in the Village of Silver Lake was the subject of a deed compliance hearing Monday afternoon at the District Office at Brownwood.

A complaint was received Jan. 6 by Community Standards about weeds and a hole in the siding.

Jackson died this past October at age 76. Her arrangements were handled by a funeral home in Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated that, “For the last 14 years, Ruth Ann really enjoyed her life in Florida.” Her husband Charles had preceded her in death.

Jackson’s relatives informed Community Standards that “the property is reverting to the lender.” The lender has been identified as Freedom Mortgage and Community Standards has continued to try to communicate with the company about the property. As of an inspection this past week, the property remained out of compliance.

The property owner was granted seven days to bring the property into compliance. If it is not brought into compliance, fines will be imposed.
