An unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested while driving on State Road 44 in Wildwood.
A deputy observed 36-year-old Israel Brito Cruz driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe heading west on State Road 44 around 6:35 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s tag lights were out, leading to a traffic stop east of County Road 231.

Brito Cruz handed over a Mexico ID instead of a driver’s license. He was able to provide the registration and insurance, too, but he did not have a license out of any state, the report said.
He was arrested on charge of operating ae motor vehicle without a valid license. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond.
