Over 100 employees will have the option to transition into the same roles for a third party service that is taking over management of dietary services at UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages.
UF Health Central Florida filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the Florida Department of Commerce on Wednesday, Feb. 18., announcing the change.

According to the notice, the hospital will cease internal dietary services and transition operations to Morrison Healthcare on Friday, May 1.
While these separations are considered permanent, all affected dietary services team members are being given the opportunity to transition to Morrison Healthcare in the same positions they currently hold.
This transition will impact a total of 102 employees at UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital, which is located at 1451 El Camino Real.

In total, nearly 300 employees will be impacted across the UF Health system, including 58 employees in Leesburg and 139 in Gainesville.
The 102 positions affected at The Villages location include a broad range of roles within the food and nutrition department.
Specifically, the transition includes 47 food service workers, 19 food service cooks, 16 food service cashiers, and nine supervisors of food and nutrition services.
Other impacted roles at the facility include seven clinical dietitians, one clinical nutrition division manager, one sous chef, one administrative assistant, and one nutritional assistant/diet transport worker.
Morrison Healthcare is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The company specializes in food, nutrition, and dining services for healthcare and senior living communities.
