An injured driver was transported by ambulance to a hospital in The Villages after a crash that occurred while leaving Billy’s Cafe.
The driver was at the wheel of a Mazda SUV at 9:51 a.m. Wednesday, departing the popular breakfast-and-lunch spot on U.S. Hwy. 441, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The SUV entered the eastbound lane of U.S. Hwy. 441 and collided with a GMC pickup traveling in the same direction, causing the truck to spin and exit the roadway.
The driver of the Mazda was cited for an improper turn and transported to UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital after complaining of neck pain.
