Charles Wright Dupree was born in Tarboro, North Carolina on September 3, 1932 to Julius Wright Dupree and Hattie Sudie Keeter. Chuck crossed over to spend eternity with his beloved Betty Jean on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Chuck was a Korean War U.S. Navy Veteran and he retired from Bell South Telephone Company in 1987. He and Jean spent many years in retirement traveling the country in a motor home before settling in The Villages, Florida, in 1994.

He was one of the founding members of St. George Episcopal Church of The Villages and often served as an usher until aged forced him to be less active. In his early years in The Villages, Chuck was an avid dancer, clogger and horseshoe player. He and Jean loved to dance together in the Squares and entered many dance contests.

He is survived by his daughters, Melodi Guilbault of New Jersey and Sandra Dupree, who lived with and cared for him. He leaves behind a grandson, Pierre Guilbault (Marion) and granddaughter, Nicole Guilbault (Matt). He also leaves his great grandson, Charles Blois Guilbault, to carry on the family legacy. In addition, he is mourned by his brother, Clarence Moore, his sister, Barbara Summerlin and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Mizelle Dupree, his grandson, Nicholas Charles Dupree and his much loved sister, Laura Dupree Gerwig.

A memorial service and internment of his cremains will be held at St. George Episcopal Church in The Villages, Florida on Saturday, March 14, 2026, 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the staff of Buffalo Crossings Rehabilitation Center and Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate care they provided in Chuck’s final days.
