The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed a pedestrian was fatally struck Monday afternoon forcing the closure of Rolling Acres Road in rural Lake County.
The accident occurred at about 1 p.m. on Rolling Acres Road, about one quarter of a mile north of Lake Ella Road.
Yellow tape cordoned off a section of Rolling Acres Road, immediately in front of the Village Pet Spa, a popular kennel used by many Villagers.
Media were waved away from the scene at about 3 p.m. as a drone was being used in the investigation.
The road was blocked off to traffic for more than two hours as the fatality was being investigated.
Rolling Acres Road is a popular cut-around for those trying to avoid traffic in and around The Villages.
A woman was fatally struck in 2022 on Rolling Acres Road. The driver in that case was sentenced to prison.
