A Pepper Tree Apartments man was arrested with a license suspended for unpaid child support and a THC pen found on the floorboard.

A deputy pulled behind 28-year-old Michael Anthony Williams in a red Ford at a stoplight in Wildwood around 10:15 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the vehicle’s tag revealed his license had been suspended for unpaid child support on Jan. 20.

A traffic stop was then conducted at U.S. 301 and County Road 466. When told the reasons for this, Williams advised that he paid his child support out of Ohio and was unaware that his license had been suspended. He was subsequently asked to step out of his vehicle, the report said.

When Williams opened the door that the deputy could smell fresh marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A search revealed a THC pen resting in the middle of the floorboard. The oil inside tested positive for THC, the report said.

Williams was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended and drug equipment (possess or use). He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
