A Villager who lives in a villa known for criminal activity was arrested after his car was found parked at Savannah Center.

George Edward Berry, 56, who lives in the Escandido Villas, was with a woman when they parked a black Buick Regal at about 2 p.m. Friday in the southwest parking lot at Savannah Center, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Berry and the woman began walking a dog through the parking lot of the entertainment venue.

A deputy had been watching Berry and suspected him of driving with a suspended license. Berry was alone when he returned to the Buick. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle, signaling the likely presence of drugs. Drug paraphernalia with the residue of fentanyl and methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. The keys to the vehicle were in the cupholder.

Berry lives at 1404 Azteca Loop, a home in the Escandido Villas notorious for illicit activity.

Berry was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Texas native was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
