A woman with a suspended Ohio driver’s license was arrested at a busy shopping plaza in The Villages.
An officer on patrol spotted a green Chevy Tahoe with a loosely hanging tag at La Plaza Grande in The Villages around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A check of the tag revealed it was either not assigned properly or unregistered, so he stopped the driver, 35-year-old Sally Nichole Rice of Summerfield, in front of Bath & Body Works.

Rice advised that she had a license in Ohio, but she just did not have it with her, the report said. However, a record check determined her Ohio license had been suspended, and had an “ID Card Only” status. When confronted about this, she exclaimed, “Wait, I’ve been making payments on it. I must have missed a payment.”
This indicated that she knew about the suspension. A subsequent look into her wallet showed she had a Florida ID card. She then admitted that she could not get a Florida license because of her Ohio suspension, the report said.
Rice was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended with knowledge and no driver’s license. The Ohio native was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
